Using a laser for certain treatments can benefit our patients by providing faster healing times, reducing the risks of infection, create less bleeding and also less postoperative pain.

The laser generates a beam of concentrated light bringing energy into your mouth to help remove areas of infection as it destroys many bacteria and viruses found in the mouth.

The ezlase™ laser has a wide variety of different usages.

Laser tooth whitening

A laser can be used to whiten discoloured teeth using a whitening gel. This is a 1 hour procedure with results that can last 2 to 3 years.

A protective layer is placed over the gums and soft tissues before we apply the whitening gel to the teeth. The laser is then used to activate the gel in order to whiten the teeth.

Using a true dental laser has the benefits of actually calming the nerves of the teeth and not dehydrating them which can occur with other whitening systems.

Improve your smile with gum line contouring

We can improve the appearance of your smile by contouring or shaping your gums using a laser. We safely remove excess gum tissue that may give you a 'gummy' smile, or make your front teeth appear irregular in size or shape.

The benefit of using a laser is that there is no bleeding afterwards as the laser seals the tissue as it removes it. In addition the degree of tissue control is much higher than would be the case using a scalpel or electro surgery unit.

Treatment of cold sores and ulcers

The laser's energy can be used to concentrate a beam of light onto ulcers and cold sores by minimising any sores developing and increasing the blood circulation. This helps improve healing in the area allowing the ulcers and the sores to heal more quickly than they would do otherwise.

Desensitising of sensitive teeth

A laser can be used to treat sensitive teeth. This is usually a 20 minute procedure per tooth and involves no local anaesthesia.

Although a permanent treatment for sensitive teeth, it should be noted that if further recession occurs in those areas, then they may become sensitive again.

Sterilising of root canals during endodontic procedure

We use our laser to remove debris and bacteria between your teeth and gums that can cause bleeding gums, gum recession and even loss of teeth. The laser is highly effective at killing bacteria and may even stimulate gum tissue growth.

Tissue healing

Laser energy can be directed at areas where surgery has been carried out, such as the placement of a dental implant or removal of a wisdom tooth. The laser improves blood flow and accelerates healing, reducing post operative discomfort.

Treatment of muscular and joint pain

A laser can be used to reduce pain and stiffness which can develop in and around the mouth and jaw. By using the laser it can improve blood flow to the area which can help improve the symptoms.

Periodontal pockets

Laser energy can be used in a periodontal pocket to remove infected pocket epithelium from inside the periodontal pocket. If this is done in conjunction with the removal of tartar and calculus below the gum level, then it can lead to much improved healing postoperatively.

Gum surgery

Most surgeries inside the mouth can be carried out using a laser as it has the benefit of minimising bleeding and pain during and after the procedure. Traditional scalpel and sutures cause more tissue injury, pain, swelling and bleeding.
