Invisalign can only correct mild dental problems

When Invisalign clear aligners was founded in 1997, the technology only allowed for milder cases to be treated. Now though, with the innovation and investment, Invisalign is recognised as one of the most important orthodontic brands globally, with over 4 million people worldwide having undergone treatment. The clear aligners can correct many different types of dental alignment problems from open-bites to cross-bites, from single tooth mis-alignments to complex overcrowding cases. It really can manage it all!

Invisalign is expensive

Invisalign has different levels of treatment depending on the complexity of the movements required. Starting from as little as £22.23* p/month it is now more accessible than ever!

You have to be careful of what you eat

No. There are no restrictions to what you can eat and drink as unlike traditional wires and brackets, you remove your aligners beforehand. The only recommendation is that you brush and floss your teeth after each meal, before putting your aligners back in, to maintain your oral hygiene.

It is painful

As with any orthodontic treatment, the gentle movement of the teeth can cause mild discomfort for the first day or two after wearing a new aligner. It is described often as a feeling of pressure rather than pain and is a sign that the treatment is progressing.

The aligners affect your speech

Most patients report no long-term effect on their speech. Occasionally there may be an initial adjustment period associated with having something new in the mouth, but most people adjust well within a couple of days. There is also a simple way round this; start wearing the aligners at the weekend perhaps to give yourself a chance to adjust before work on Monday, and no one will be any the wiser!
