Why Invisalign Is An Excellent Alternative To Fixed Braces

Why Invisalign is an excellent alternative to fixed braces

Invisalign can be the perfect option for patients who want straighter teeth without having to wear fixed braces. It’s just one of the clear aligner systems available from Glow Dental in Battersea, alongside the Inman Aligner, Simpli 5, and Insignia Clear, plus many tooth-coloured and lingual brace options. Your orthodontist will determine which is the best option for you at your initial consultation.

What, no metal?

A lot of people, if they hear the word “orthodontics”, picture traditional train-track style braces. At our Battersea dental practice we are aware that while these are effective, they can also cause confidence issues and be a barrier to adult patients getting straighter teeth.

We have found that clear, removable devices such as Invisalign are a very popular alternative. They are made from clear plastic and fit snuggly over your teeth to guide them into an improved position. With no metal components these aligners are both comfortable and invisible to the untrained eye.

How it works

Invisalign comprises a series of clear aligners. You need to change them regularly – approximately every two weeks, unless advised otherwise by your orthodontist – as your teeth begin to move, and at the end of treatment you will need to wear a retainer.

The number of aligners required varies from patient to patient and depends on the type and amount of correction required. When you come into our Battersea dental practice for an Invisalign consultation, your orthodontist will be able to advise you how many aligners you will need, and what your predicted treatment time is.

Thanks to the advanced computer software behind Invisalign, you will also be able to see exactly what results to expect before you start treatment.

You can take your aligners out to brush your teeth and to clean, helping you maintain excellent dental hygiene during treatment, and enabling you to eat what you like.
