The survey asked UK dentists whether they had encountered patients with overseas-treatment complications. It did not track every patient who travelled abroad and therefore cannot provide a failure rate for Turkish dentistry.

Claims such as “80% of foreign implants fail within two years” should therefore not be repeated unless supported by appropriate clinical evidence.

Are There Good Dentists in Turkey?

Yes. It would be inaccurate and unfair to suggest that all Turkish dentistry is poor quality.

It is also important to distinguish dental implants from the treatments commonly described online as “Turkey teeth”.

The phrase “Turkey teeth” is often used to describe extensive crown or veneer treatment where natural teeth have been significantly prepared. That is a different clinical procedure from replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant.

Implant complications and complications from aggressively prepared crowns should therefore not be mixed together when discussing treatment risks.
