Treating smiles the smart and gentle way with laser dentistry

The prospect of having any type of surgery can be daunting. We know this all too well and do all we can to make dental surgery as stress-free as possible. That’s why we invested in having a dental laser in our surgery as it is the gentlest, most precise and least invasive method available.

A dental laser uses a highly concentrated beam of light that can be accurately controlled so we leave as much healthy tissue as possible. Lasers also encourage a faster healing rate, shortening recovery times and reducing any impact on your life after treatment. Our laser has revolutionised the way that we treat dental problems, giving our patients the very best standard of care.

What is laser dentistry used for?
Laser Dentistry

Gum surgery

Most surgical procedures inside the mouth can be carried out with a laser. This has the benefit of minimising bleeding and pain both during and after the procedure. Traditional scalpel and suture techniques cause more tissue injury, pain, swelling and bleeding.

Boost recovery

Laser energy can be directed at areas where surgery has been carried out such as the placement of a dental implant or removal of a wisdom tooth. The laser improves blood flow, accelerates healing, and reduces post-operative discomfort.

Periodontal pockets

Laser energy can be used in a periodontal pocket to remove infected tissue. If this is done in conjunction with the removal of tartar and calculus below the gum level it can lead to much improved postoperative healing.

Root canal treatment

Our laser can be used to remove bacteria from root canals during root canal treatment. It offers a total sterilisation to prevent any returning infection so your tooth has the best chance.

Sensitive teeth

A laser can be used to treat sensitive teeth. This is usually a 20-minute procedure per tooth and involves no local anaesthesia.

Although a permanent treatment for sensitive teeth, it should be noted that if further gum recession occurs then teeth might become sensitive again.

Cold Sores and Ulcers

The laser’s energy can be used to concentrate a beam of light onto ulcers and cold sores. This increases blood circulation in the area and so minimises development of the sores and causes them to heal much more quickly.

Muscular and joint pain

A laser can be used to reduce pain and stiffness in and around the mouth and jaw. Applying the laser to these areas can improve blood flow and help improve symptoms.
